1. An assistant coach of Team A uses disrespectful language towards an official and is charged with a direct technical foul. The head coach is charged with an indirect technical foul. The official directs the scorer to add just one team foul to Team A's team foul count. Is the official correct?

Rule 10.5.1--The head coach is responsible for his conduct and behavior, as well as substitutes, disqualified team members and all other bench personnel. Bench personnel, including the head coach, must not: commit an unsporting foul. Also, read Case Book 10.5.1



2. A-1 attempts a three-point try. While the ball is above the ring on its downward flight with a chance to go in, B-2 blocks the shot. The official awards three points and awards the ball out of bounds to Team B with the privilege of moving along the end line. Is the official correct?

Rule 9.12.Penalty 1--Goaltending: A player must not commit goaltending , as in Rule 4.22. If the violation is at the opponent’s basket, the opponents are awarded one point if during a free throw, three points if during a three-point try and two points in any other case.
Rule 4.22--Goaltending occurs when a player touches the ball during a try or tap for field goal while the ball is in its downward flight entirely above the basket ring level, has the possibility of entering the basket in flight and is not touching the basket cylinder or a player touches the ball outside the cylinder during a free-throw attempt.



3. During an alternating possession throw-in, thrower A-1 steps onto the court and violates. The official has the scorer reverse the alternating possession arrow toward Team B’s basket. Is the official correct?

Rule 6.4.5-The opportunity to make an alternating-possession throw-in is lost if the throw-in team violates. If either team fouls during an alternating-possession throw-in, it does not cause the throw-in team to lose the possession arrow. If the defensive team commits a violation during the throw-in, the possession arrow is not switched.



4. Player A is dribbling in the front court when he bounces the ball off his foot and it returns to the backcourt. Player A secures the ball in the back court and starts a dribble. The referee rules a back court violation. Is the Referee correct?

Rule: 4.15.5--An interrupted dribble occurs when the ball is loose after deflecting off the dribbler or after it momentarily gets away from the dribbler. There is no player control during an interrupted dribble.
4.15.4a--The dribble ends when the dribbler catches or causes the ball to come to rest in one or both hands
4.15.4c--The dribbler simultaneously touches the ball with both hands.



5. B-1 intentionally slaps the backboard while the ball is on the ring. This causes the ball to roll off the ring. The official rules basket interference. Is the official correct?
